“The King Jesus Village”

On April 6th, an urgent email came into my office from Pastor Stephen. It seemed Social Services had just visited the children’s home and they had given him 90 days to update some of the facilities at the village or they would have to close. In his nearly 25 years of caring for the children Social Services had never once visited.

We had just finished construction on a new school for the King Jesus Village, so we knew that our 276 students were going to be able to continue to go to school, but the 70 children now under Pastor Stephen’s care were in danger of being without a home. As quickly as I could, I was on my way to Ghana, West Africa.

Our goal was to visit Pastor Stephen and develop a plan that was acceptable to Ghana Social Services, while keeping the King Jesus Children’s home from closing. And, by God’s continued blessings we were able to do just that.

From the moment I arrived our team hit the ground running! We started with a visit to Social Services in Kumasi where I met with Director Patrick and was able to convince him to give us the additional time needed to save the children’s home.

We then visited with the High Chief of the Ashanti Region who conveyed the King’s support of our work. They would help us in anyway they could from a government
perspective.

Next was a visit with our architects, where we developed a plan to save the village.

Today the future looks bright for the King Jesus Village! The girl’s dormitory is nearly finished, we’ve doubled the village’s water supply, and we have plans to build a new kitchen and dining facility in the coming weeks.
