Chad Smith “Smalls” Memorial Scholarship
“Partnering With Communities To Help End Hunger In America”
Marcus Lo of Los Angeles, CA
2021 $1000 Chad Smith “Smalls” Memorial Scholarship Winner!
We are excited to announce Marcus Lo (Los Angeles California) as our 2021 Chad Smith “Smalls” $1000.00 scholarship winner!
For his young age, Marcus has accumulated an inspiring list of accomplishments. Orphaned at a very young age, Marcus decided early on not to let life get him down, and that he would become a shining light to others in need around the world, and indeed he has.
Among Marcus’s long list of accomplishments, he enjoys leading the youth and delivering sermons at his local church.
Marcus visits Polson, Montana, on an annual basis to build homes for homeless Native Americans, and has even begun working through his church to build homes for the homeless.
On-campus he has created an organization known as, Neighbors of LA, which regularly hosts meals, social events, and get-togethers with LA’s homeless citizens.
As an avid programmer he has utilized his skills to start his own non-profit organization Krik Krak Computer Project “KKCP” to provide Haitian and American homeless students with educational opportunities.
For Marcus’s commitment to his mission work with the homeless, he has won various church and community leadership awards, including the Springer Family Community Award, Carmel Masonic Lodge Award, Elks State Award, and the Carmel Rotary Club Award.
While there were many who met the basic requirements to apply for our scholarship, Marcus exemplifies the type of person we look for each year when making the Chad Smith “Smalls” award.
